Personality: Carrying the weight of his family name behind him, Hans speaks and stands with an air of confidence about him at just about all times. His dialect is that of an upper-class Inatian noble, and he knows exactly how much power he holds. Because of this, Hans is immensely confident in just about everything he does.

Hans is also shrewd and eloquent. He enjoys being the center of attention, and he often is when it comes to gatherings. Only fellow merchant lords can compete, and Hans knows how to play the game best. Of course, this usually leads to accusations of having an overly competitive nature, even for a merchant lord.

This competitiveness can get the better of him. He spends so much time lavishing and competing for the market in Inatis that he often forgets to forge bonds with people. As a result, it is often lonely at the top.
Appearance: Hans is an older man with fair skin, gray, slicked-back hair, and an overall gruff appearance. His physique is broad despite his supposed lifestyle (this stems from Hans’s philosophy to be the pinnacle at all times). He’s also a tall 6’4”, towering over most of his peers.

Hans tends to wear more upper-class clothes, as is befitting his station as a merchant lord. Fine coats, vests, and furred clothing are all commonplace for him. Not only that, but he prefers purple, the standard colors of the House of Albrecht.

Hans doesn’t typically carry any weapons with him. At best, he will bring a family saber for ceremonial purposes.
Backstory: Hans was born the sole heir to a powerful dynasty within the Inatis Kingdom. As the son of the Merchant Lord Albrecht, Hans had a silver spoon in his mouth from birth. However, he was always taught that power needed to be held on to. Even from a young age, Hans took those words to heart.

At the time of his father’s passing, when Hans was a young man, the Albrecht family was merely a minor merchant house. However, young Hans made an immense gamble that would pay off. Using charts and navigational data of the time, he paid two merchants to bring key objects from two areas: Sundrew and Amarene. The process would take years and almost bankrupt the young man. Yet, he succeeded.

The expeditions brought back manajitite and mechanisms to utilize it. Hans had revolutionized warfare in Inatis. He went from a minor merchant of arms and armor to one of the foremost powers in Inatis overnight. His title of Merchant Lord was fully earned, and he had stepped in with the major powers.

However, this rise in power and the constant game to maintain it would prove to take a toll on his body. He had spent a large portion of his youth and adulthood cementing his financial position and keeping that position. Now in his mid-forties, the pangs of settling down are finally setting in.
Powers and Abilities: Hans is a shrewd and affluent figure, possessing immense wealth and personal power at his disposal. Though his accumulated wealth is one of relatively ‘new money’, his authority is no less legitimate than any other merchant lord within Inatis. However, he has the additional authority of an arms dealer, which means he can call in special favors from the king.

Of course, Hans would be nothing without his keen intellect. His bold moves often stem from insight and the ability to think outside the box. Though many of his maneuvers are risky, they have almost always paid off.

Despite all these advantages, Hans is far from invincible. While he knows how to use a sword, he isn’t proficient at it. On top of this, his overconfidence often means he disregards his personal safety.
